The Valley of the Giants Treetop Walk
Embarking on the Valley of the Giants Treetop Walk is a thrilling and awe-inspiring experience, offering visitors a unique perspective on the majestic tingle forest from an elevated circular walkway.
The well constructed walkway, with a gradual ascent, offers you the opportunity to experience the tops of the giant tingle trees in complete safety. The walk is actually on a series of lightweight steel trusses, built on steel pylons, to form a 420 metre long circuit walk leading over a deep red tingle gully. Amidst the towering trees and lush canopy, you can marvel at nature's grandeur, forging an unforgettable journey that connects you with the beauty of the delicate forest ecosystem below.This popular eco-tourism attraction allows you to experience the ancient tingle forest from new heights, as the gully descends, you ascend. It's a gradual climb into the treetops above the forest floor, providing stunning panoramic views of the forest canopy and surrounding landscapes. You can see Mount Frankland in the distance on a clear day and the views are simply breathtaking!

Great for Kids
Children usually love this experience, venturing out onto the walk without trepidation. The construction of the walk also gave us, as parents, a sense of security, knowing that it was perfectly safe for them to explore the treetop walkway ahead of us. I noticed, while squatting to talk to my son, that from his much lower angle the walkway looks virtually solid.
Accessibility at the Valley of the Giants
The Valley of the Giants Treetop Walk is mostly accessible with level bitumen paths from the car park to all facilities. The circular 600m-long walkway reaches 40m high into the forest canopy, accessible via metal grid ramps with handrails. Complimentary wheelchair and stroller hire is available, and there are designated accessible parking bays and wheelchair-accessible toilets about 50m from the parking area.
Please note that the guided walk is not suitable for strollers, wheelchairs, or individuals with mobility issues, but the Tree Top Walk remains accessible to all.Where is the Valley of the Giants
Though technically in the Denmark Shire, the Valley of the Giants is close to the towns of Nornalup and Walpole. It is a pleasant and easy drive, along the South Coast Highway, and is located just off the Highway between Walpole and Denmark, the way is well marked.
The Valley of the Giants and the Ancient Empires Walk is great for all ages. We have been there many times and have enjoyed every visit. For added convenience, take advantage of complimentary wheelchair and stroller hire, enjoy public toilet facilities, baby change amenities, secure bike racks adjacent to the ticket office, and ample parking catering to cars, trailers, caravans, and coaches.

What is the walk like?
The accessible steel platform offers a ascent and descent which are easy and shaded, making it perfect for most people. Walking through the trunks of the trees and into the upper canopy offers an awe inspiring opportunity to be up with the trees, a view that you would not normally be able to see.
The steel structure is a masterpiece, as far as architecture goes. The metal framework allows a very holistic view of the surroundings, and adds a sense of adventure and excitement to the experience. The perfectly placed circular platforms, along the walkway, provide perfect resting stops and lookouts.
The Ancient Empires Walk
The Ancient Empires Walk is free to enter and can be completed as a stand alone experience. This ground-level exploration of the forest, is perfect for all ages.
The Giants are, of course, the giant red tingle trees which are only found in this particular area of the Walpole Wilderness Area. Some of these giants are over fifteen metres round at the base! Enjoy strolling along the raised wooden boardwalk which winds between, and even through, the giant tingle trees. The captivating 455-metre walk trail has Grandma Tingle as its star attraction! Unravel the tale of the lost Gondwana era in this ancient and distinctive red tingle forest.
The walk takes you beneath the ancient canopy on a meandering circular path back towards the Wilderness Discovery Centre, allowing you to get up close to the impressive tingle trees, some of which have stood for centuries, forming part of a remarkable living history.
Free Guided Walks depart from the ticket office twice daily. Call in the morning to secure your spot as bookings are only taken on the day of the tour. These tours are not suitable for strollers, wheelchairs, or individuals with mobility issues.
Wilderness Discovery Centre
The Discovery Centre serves as an educational hub, providing information about the unique ecosystem of the tingle forest and its significance in the region's biodiversity. It often features interactive displays, exhibits, and knowledgeable staff who can answer questions, making the visit enriching for curious minds of all ages.
There is a fun photo opportunity at the end of the Discovery Centre which allows you to look like you're sitting in a car driving through a Tingle Tree...a perfect Instagram moment!
The gift shop offers a variety of local souvenirs, educational materials, and local products. Support our local artisans, and find mementos to remember your visit by. You can also buy drinks and icecream too. Frequently there is a coffee van parked outside, near teh car park, offering coffee, tea and snacks!
