From Ocean Beach Look-Out there are fantastic views of the beach surf as well as the calm darker waters of the Wilson Inlet. The Ocean Beach lookout, signposted just before Ocean Beach, overlooks the channel between the Wilson Inlet and the Southern Ocean (when opened), and is ideally placed to check out the surf. You can see the Nullaki Penisula beautifully, its impressive sand dunes and its dramatic edge.
Visit the Look-Out by turning left at Prawn Rock Channel up the hill. This is also a great place to watch the channel being dug to let the Wilson Inlet discharge to the sea, which happens once a year. There is a nice bench area to rest and a scultpture.
Keep the adventure going as you continue your drive around the headland to Lion's Lookout, past Ocean Beach turnoff, along the gravel roads. Here, you'll be treated to fantastic views! From here you can climb even higher to Upper Lion's Lookout! Experience the thrill of gazing down upon the beach and the mesmerizing coast from a high vantage point. If luck is on your side, catch surfers in action below, adding to the awe-inspiring spectacle.
The Denmark Surf Life Saving Club is located at Ocean Beach. The clubhouse sits on the dunes above the break. The DSLSC patrol Ocean Beach on weekends from December to March. The facilities are excellent with a large carpark between the Sea Rescue and the Surf Lifesaving Club and a sealed path to the beach with toilets and showers opposite the Club.
The area around Ocean Beach is rich in biodiversity. Birdwatchers can spot various coastal and marine birds. The sand bar, at the entrance to Wilson Inlet, is a roosting site for waders and seabirds including Hooded and Red-capped Plover and Rock Parrot.
